Biography

I love words. I love stringing words along on that lovely word necklace that grammar calls a sentence. I live for those times when my words come together in such complete harmony that they convey to my reader the precise emotion I was feeling when I chose the words.

I find merit in the old adage "write what you know." I know life as a midwestern wife and mother. I know how satisfying it is to be married to just the right person for me (10 years and counting). I know the pain of miscarriage (three to be exact). I know the unmatched happiness of being called "mom". And I know what it's like to be trapped by an eating disorder and break free.

My husband is a tattoed, bald-headed Harley rider. He's also a police officer and a dedicated family man. He removes pictures from the walls while sleeping and likes the television way too loud. He's an excellent cook. I love him.

My daughter is an eloquent seven year old who has inherited her father's sharp memory. She likes animals of all species and is embarking on a personal quest to prove to her parents that Bratz should not be judged by their pouty made-up faces and trashy clothes.

My son is an overactive almost-three year old who enjoys hiding canned goods in the oven and pulling down his pants. His mere presence sucks me towards him like a soft squishy magnet that I must kiss. He finds this annoying.

I have a full-time job with a home office cluttered with Fisher Price Little People and dump trucks. I don't like to cook. I like to drink Mike's hard lemonade. I'm perpetually behind on the laundry. If I'm behind on blogging it's usually because I'm playing Word Mojo.
